Well, I don't know how...but lo and behold those grades that I needed were there when I re-registered so I must have done something right in following your directions.
I love happy endings!

I think I need to go to plan B about recovering lost grades ...

I downloaded the G&P 2.17 or something again and choose 'overwrite'...which my luck is probably wrong, eh?
Whenever I try to do a back up to disk and floppy, I get a fatal error...

I'm lost...and may have to throw in the towel...

Thanks for trying anyways,

1. Yes, the install file is the one you originally downloaded and used to installed G&P.  If you can no longer locate it, let us know approximately how long ago you downloaded it and we'll send you a link to download a new copy.

2. Assuming your version of G&P is a fairly recent vintage, you can make a backup by running the file "Bkup.exe" located in your "C:\Grades&Plans2" folder.  Bkup.exe is the same backup module called by the G&P program's File menu item "Database Backup", but doesn't require you to run G&P to run it, so it shouldn't have the same error as your experiencing.  Note: Depending on your Windows settings you may not see the ".exe"  portion of the file name displayed, but there is only one "Bckup", so run that.

FYI - Likewise, there is a bkup_restore.exe  file which you can run to restore your database immediately after completing the re-install of G&P -- or you can use the File/Database menu item, your choice.

Again, if you have problems, let us know.

"...and the install file that you initially used to install G&P."

1.  I know where my registration # is but I do not know exactly what is meant by the file that I initially used to install G&P.  I downloaded it from the web...is that what you mean?

2.  I'm not sure I can make a back-up when I can't even open up G&P.  As soon as I click 'ok' on the error message, the site closes immediately.  I can't get past the error message.  How can I do a back-up without opening the program?

I understand your steps 3 and 4...but #5 is linked to #2...and I need help figuring out how to back-up...

Thanks for your prompt help and reply,
Sandy

The easiest way to resolve this is to re-install G&P.  To do that you will need to do the following in the order listed...

1. locate your registration info and the install file that you initially used to install G&P.
2. make a backup of your database so that you can restore it after you re-install G&P.  Save it on your desktop, a flash drive, floppy, etc.
3. uninstall G&P
4. install/register G&P
5. restore the database backup you made

If you have any difficulty or questions regarding this, post a reply and we'll help.

I am getting a "Run-time error '339': component 'MSFLXGRD.OCX' not correctly registered file missing or invalid."
I deleted another program recently and didn't know that it might have been shared by this program possibly.
Can you save me?  I need to print out the gradebook ASAP!!!
Thanks kindly,
